Just wanted to add that your still safe from a “bricking” with the new 1.1.2 iphone update, again, as I said before, as long as you haven’t unlocked your phone as far as carrier, your safe for updates without any loss of data or locking you out of your iphone. And along the same lines, once you do the “jailbreakme” method, inside “installer” app, you can now unlock your carrier to work with any GSM carrier worldwide. For directions how, just email or comment.

One of the commentors here posted this useful link to basically bypass windows authentication, similar to the registry hack I had posted months ago, work a look or a use 🙂 ENJOY

So far I have performed over 14 apptapp installer “upgrades” to various iphones,  from firmware 1.0 to the newest 1.1.1 . The only time I have bricked the iphone, is when I had an unlocked carrier iphone. Okay let me clarify this for the non-techies that used jailbreakme… You can safely update your iphone to 1.1.1 from any other firmware version (without any time costly setbacks), as long as you never unlocked your iphone to work on another service provider , like T-mobile, Sprint, etc. (HOWEVER even if you DO update to 1.1.1 and your phone becomes bricked, (disabled) you can always revert back to an older firmware HERE  to unbrick, and still use 1.1.1) OR you can use the ($80) turbosim method and continue using your iphone on another carrier. So basically what I am telling you is that you CAN update to 1.1.1 and have no major consequences regardless of whether or not you temporarily brick your iphone.  I think I should note that installing the 1.1.1 update DOES remove all your previously installed third party apps, and if your like me and have 25+ applications and customizations it can take a while to reinstall all of them and have your iphone working in it’s previous full glory, also NOT according to rumor, you DO NOT lose your contacts, or any frakkin information PERIOD. Backing up is always suggested and any common Joe-Sixpack  should be already backing up their information anyways however…   I currently have my iphone working with T-mobile, At&t (obviously), and vodaphone (overseas provider). Iphonesimfree is also another alternative for those wanting to use another service provider, and does not mind paying a small fee. If you have any questions feel free to drop a comment, I’m doing my best to respond to all the traffic and emails.

BSOD – At the Car Wash

Posted: November 2, 2007 in General Area, Google

Saw this at the car wash, thats a Nvidia driver error, funny thing is that I was probably the only person to have seen it and knew how to fix it lol…

See where  “all eyes on me” is below? just copy and paste that whole line of text into googles search box and replace “all eyes on me” with the name of the song you want to find and you should be able to download your songs using Google’s search engine. Doesn’t always work 100%, but if your some weirdo and don’t use bitorrent then this works as well.

If you receive this error after performing a system restore, or a Windows upgrade/update, well I hate to break it to you, but the “STOP” really does mean “Stop what the f**k your doing”. There are a plethora of various checksum errors, urlmon, nvda4, etc, and typically (about 99% of the time) replacing the corrupted files will only give you another checksum or corrupted file error. The best solution to fix this is to pop in a Windows XP (SP2) disk and perform a low level repair. Performing a low level repair off the XP cd, will possibly erase *some* of your data, but if you want to save everything, you could always download a bootable version of Knoppix and swap all your files to a USB drive prior to the repair.  As always if you need help with this, feel free to drop me a line.

There are a few iphone third party apps that really come in handy, the latest personal favorites are:

Stumbler: which allows you to scan for wireless networks, however it lacks the capability to connect through the app, but you can do so through the built in wifi app on the iphone.

SendSong: Allows you to convert any MP3 file into a ringtone. Problem with this app is that it does not allow you to “clip” the song, therefore, your ringtone starts at the beginning of each song instead of allowing you to select just the chorus or verse.

Navizon: WAS one of the best apps out there, it allows you to GPS yourself, and it works very well, however the fags over at Navizon decided to start charging for the service, soooOO I uninstalled the once great app.

TTR (Tap Tap Revolution) : You know that game where the little asian kids learn how to dance by jumping on the mat to the tune of some weird techno song? Well its that game… but you use your fingers, and since you can do it and nobody knows what your tapping on your iphone, well its pretty cool and its completely free.

Pushr: Allows your to upload photos from your pictures on your iphone directly to Flickr

Customize: Great program allowing you to change almost anything on your iphone

SMBprefs: In conjunction with Customize, it is the “theme/skin” program for the iphone

iwoman: Laugh all you want…this program keeps track of your girlfriends period, you have no clue how handy this little app can be, now you know what days to plan the next fishing trip or golf game !

Vnotes: This app allows you to record voice notes, which for some unknown reason , Apple decided not to include this on the iphone, pretty stupid if you ask me…
