10.6.5 update and macbook pro, macbook problems

I can’t confirm this but according to sources (friends), the new update can brick your macbook/ macbook pro. If your using PGP software.

I personally don’t see the correlation between the two, how it could render your mbp or mb unbootable, but according to a warning that went out at Harvard University, it’s a reason to be concerned.

Thanks to friends at Harvard, and Andre for sharing this. I’ll look and see if I can duplicate this error somehow, but the email doesn’t specify whether its an internal PGP software or the recently acquired Synmantec PGP software, but I’m not sure if its even mac compatible.

  1. Jorge Ferreira says:

The problem is when you have PGP Whole Disk Encryption.
How can you not see the connection…

    read http://appletoolbox.com/2010/11/mac-os-x-10-6-5-wont-bootstartup-with-pgp-whole-disk-encryption-fix/

  2. Exempt says:

In the email I was sent , it specified solely PGP email encryption, which should not affect anything in correlation with the boot process , however, yes whole disk will obviously affect the boot process
